Since this blog began with one of it’s first post about Pantone’s Color of the Year 2023, Viva Magenta, I have decided to blog a bit about their Color of the Year for 2024, Peach Fuzz.
I was pretty excited about Viva Magenta because I love anything pink! Viva Magenta was chosen by Pantone because, as we exited the pandemic, we were excited about getting back to life, and pinks and reds are the colors of vibrancy and life.
We are now exactly halfway through 2024, and have had time to adjust to this new color Peach Fuzz - a color chosen for it’s soft and caring, feel-good essence. We want to feel good when there is so much strife in the world and in our country. Peach is a therapeutic, warm and fuzzy color.
To me, though, Peach Fuzz is not a very thrilling color. It was my Mom’s favorite color, and I loved my Mom, so it always reminds me of her. But, perhaps because I was always subjected to peach interiors that my Mom designed while growing up, I have been overdosed on peach.
Below are some of the original images shown by Pantone and others when Peach Fuzz came out six months ago so that you can see the actual color that I am talking about.
There is only one painting in the shop that has any peach in it at all, and that is the Atomic canvas wall art, which is an abstract design that has been placed as well on pillows, and window and shower curtains. Here you can see it placed in various peach-toned interiors.
My feeling is that an all-peach interior can be somewhat boring and makes my brain want to fuzz out - much like it’s Peach Fuzz namesake. As always, there is nothing I like more than a little bit of drama in my color schemes, my interiors, and in my art.
I share some images below that show how peach can be used in your home decor in a more exciting and vibrant fashion. These images give a splendid idea of how you can mix peach with other colors in order to achieve a soft, yet dynamic feel.
Here, peach is darkened up a bit and touches of silver and gold lend a definite sense of glamour to the setting.
Here, peach is amped-up with some gorgeous velvet upholstery, as well as some beautiful gold accents.
Here, there is some peach in the furnishings, but there are pinks and blues added in to the decor, which makes the peach a friendly player in this scene.
Finally, peach indeed lends itself very well to a bohemian-type of decor - one with rugged and earthy accents like unpainted wood and rough plaster walls.
How about you? Do you like peach? Have you used peach in your decor scheme? Do you like peach by itself, or mixed with other colors?
