Welcome to the New Blog

OM Goodness, and Greetings Earthlings! I am starting a new blog. I used to have a blog, called My Journey to Surtex. The picture above was the front page image that I used for that blog. I had it for several years, 2009 to 2012, and it was an art blog. It was my goal to feature at the Surtex trade show at the Javitz Center in New York, on a regular basis. A lot has happened in the almost-ten years since I had my blog and since that was my goal. Now, there are other, better, trade shows. Now, I have new interests.

"Life" intervened in my life such that I could not advance towards any of my goals in so long a time. I am still alive, thank goodness, unlike some of the artists who wrote blogs about art licensing back when I was blogging. It's so sad, but also a reminder that sh*t happens.

I have several creative goals, and they will all be addressed within this blog and site. I chose blogger because it is free, with unlimited blogging space. Plus, I have very fond memories of all of the astoundingly creative art, crafting, and journaling blogs that were on blogger when it first became popular so many years ago. I sincerely miss all of those women and don't know if they are still around or where they went, but at the moment it just seems as if ... everyone is selling t-shirts on Shopify.

Please don't get me started on this topic, because you might not hear the end of it. I studied fashion, in addition to art, in college, and I just absolutely hate t-shirts. I really wish people would stop wearing t-shirts. Life is grand, why wear a t-shirt? And the bar to entry is incredibly low. I realize that people can make a lot of money selling t-shirts on POD sites, but that doesn't mean one should do it. It doesn't mean it is a worthwhile goal. In my opinion, it is a sad commentary on mass-marketing with a total lack of artisanal creativity. Hopefully, we can do a bit better than that!

My hope with this blog is to share wonderful images of the things I create, each one unique and hand-made. My hope is that you will find in this blog inspiration for your own creative journey.
